From humble beginnings to becoming a beloved Melbourne institution, our story has always been about nourishing people through food, kindness, and connection.

Humble Beginnings

On a busy corner of Swanston Street, CROSSWAYS began with a simple practice: distributing prasadam to anyone who came by. What started as small, regular offerings of blessed food quickly became a dependable source of nourishment for passersby and a quiet act of service to the city.

Early Crossways community, 1984–1989
1980s – 1995

A Growing Table

Word spread and more people joined us—students, office workers, travellers, and neighbours. Our prasadam distribution grew into a steady ritual and a meeting point where affordable, vegetarian meals and sincere hospitality brought diverse people together.

Deepening Purpose

As interest in mindful, plant-based eating rose, CROSSWAYS kept serving meals made with care and gratitude. We expanded distribution while staying true to—service, simplicity, and the spiritual roots of prasadam—welcoming a new generation that valued conscious living.
